Palmwoods motorbike crash: Rider dead after horror bridge incident

A motorcyclist has died in a horror crash on a Sunshine Coast hinterland road as police call for witnesses to come forward.

A man has died after his motorcycle went off the side of a bridge and struck a tree on the Sunshine Coast.

Police said initial investigations showed the 39-year-old Parrearra man was travelling west along Chevallum Rd in Palmwoods, about 6.30pm on July 25, before he drove off the side of a bridge and hit the tree.

Emergency services were called to the incident about 6.40pm.

Paramedics assessed the rider who was in a critical condition and he died at the scene.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said a motorbike was found down an embankment.

Firefighters assisted paramedics at the site of the crash.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said an adult man had crashed off a bridge.

The forensic crash unit is investigating and anyone with information about the crash, or who was on Chevallum Rd at the time of the incident, should come forward.
