SOMETIMES it’s easy to forget there are people doing it tough on the Sunshine Coast.

SOMETIMES it's easy to forget there are people doing it tough on the Sunshine Coast.

Not just finding it hard to make ends meet, but seriously tough.

The Salvation Army says there are a lot of people who have less than $10 a day to live on after they have paid for their accommodation.

Forget about not being able to afford life's luxuries - these people often can't afford to eat.

But they tend to be invisible.

You probably won't see them sleeping on a park bench.

They blend in with the crowd.

They might be the old woman sitting next to you on the bus.

The teenager walking past you on the street.

Even the old man who reminds you of your grandfather.

Thankfully there are charities which help them but they, in turn, rely on the rest of us for funding.

So next time someone like the Salvos or Lifeline puts their hand out for a donation, remember it could be going to the mum and baby who just stood next to you in the line at the supermarket.

It makes it easier to be generous if you can put a face to them.
