Opinion
Don't miss out on the headlines from Opinion. Followed categories will be added to My News.
This is not your everyday list of Sunny Coast op shops.
This is for those who cannot pass any town without popping into their oppie, for the ones who get whiplash at the site of uncharted territory and can think of nothing else but to step inside to search through someone's old stuff.
The ultimate hacks revealed to find op shop gems
This is for the devoted, who delight in the disarray and disorder of a good old fashion second-hand shop.
Yes, everyday op shops arranged to resemble your favourite boutique are fun and great for a touch of light exercise but for real recycle-o-saurus', these are considered fast food, or an entree, if you like, before the main feast.
Op shopaholics prepare yourselves, your buffet awaits.
Well, not the full buffet, I've saved a platter for myself, but I think you'll find this menu rather tasty. Enjoy!
Bardos Bazaar
20 West Tce, Caloundra - Open 9am-4pm weekdays and 9am-12pm Saturdays.
This little sweetie is full of interesting things. You'll find outfits for the whole family, magazines dating back to the good old days, and kitchen gadgets galore; you know, all the innovative items off the shopping channel, now you can try them for next to nothing.
Kidney Support Network
1 Gannawarra St, Currimundi - Open 9am-4pm weekdays and 9am-12pm Saturdays.
When I first met this beauty, she lived next door to Little Miss Saine in Buddina, and she was bursting at the seams with bargains. She's since relocated to her current larger residence and the goodness continues to overflow. From home decor to dress ups, you can find it here.
Helping Hand Charity Op Shop
6 Meta St, Mooloolaba - Open 8.30am-3.30pm Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
When you pull up to this charity store you will need to calm your thumping heart, this is one of those situations where you can't park your car fast enough because you know you're going to discover something amazing. Among the beads, ball gowns and bangles there are so many fun things waiting to be found.
Life Church Care
Shop 9/125 Sugar Rd, Maroochydore - Open 10am-2pm Tuesday to Saturday.
Hiding in an industrial pocket on Sugar Rd, this one's easy to miss but when you find it, you'll wish you had earlier! Craft, crockery and clothing it's all here. Find something special for only a few coins.
St Margaret's Anglican Church
16 Blackall St, Woombye - Open 9am-1pm Monday to Friday, opens at 10.30am Thursdays
This is another of those precious places that could easily be missed if you're not looking for it. I frequent this shop like some do the Plaza and never leave empty-handed. You can buy clothing, antiques, plants, pots and homemade pickles. Yum! Be sure to drop in and say hi to Di!
No need to skirt around versatile wardrobe staple
You'll find all of these spots have a collection of charity shops nearby, so if you're hoping for an appetiser you won't have to travel far to find one.
Don't forget further north around Noosa, they have a whole other hunting ground to discover, so plan your stops and make a day of it.
