WHAT an absolutely spot-on column regarding the One Nation imbroglio, from Scott Sawyer (Daily, March 28).
If other countries wanted any evidence at all that perhaps we are a hillbilly nation, then that little foray by local and Queensland One Nation leader Steve Dickson and the ever-hovering James Ashby would confirm opinions. It also confirmed for many of us just the calibre and lack of character of these two men.
To even consider being anywhere near the National Rifle Association of America, with its hard-right, hardcore, atrophy-brained leaders, (obviously in it for the money shrouded by faux patriotism), shows Dickson and Ashby's lack of not only political nous, but common sense.
To hear the bile emitted from Dickson's mouth, was nauseating in the extreme.
What was their leader thinking, allowing such a trip? Also was this trip taxpayer-funded? If so, it needs to be reimbursed from their own purse pronto. If Pauline Hanson knew the reason for the trip prior to their leaving, why did she not put an end to it?
One Nation has been controversial from the beginning. This time, it has surely gone way too far for any of its adherents and needs to be shown the door. Good on Al-Jazeera for exposing their idiocy and lack of judgment and making us all aware of how very dangerous a feral political party can be.
They do not represent our nation.
