New-look streetscape not worth the money

What on earth is the council thinking for its "new-look” Bulcock Street when we had the most majestic Moreton Bay figs before which could have been saved.

WALKING up Bulcock Street on Saturday I discovered some new additions to the so-called new streetscape.

I was very surprised, but mostly horrified, to see a large, white bent pole outside The Strand at the top end of town with what appeared to be coloured cut glass pieces in the shape of a flower.

I then also found three more fake flowers in a cluster halfway down the other side of the street, overshadowed by a group of dead trees, as most of the new trees planted in the top end of town have now died. What indeed a beautiful sight that was.

What on earth is the council thinking for its "new-look” Bulcock Street when we had the most majestic Moreton Bay figs (pictured) before which could, many believe, have been saved.

One presumes this is at a cost to ratepayers when they don't even have a say.

The money that has been spent on trying to revamp Caloundra's main street is unimaginable, and what was once a vibrant and wonderfully eclectic Sunday market is now a very drab and sparse affair.

Yet another reason, and there are many, for a change of council before our pristine Sunny Coast becomes a second Gold Coast.
