Chaplains in schools to help struggling students

REGARDING Clive Newton's letter (Daily, April 23) about chaplains in state schools.
Firstly, those helpers of chaplains that were referred to would have been obeying The Great Commission.
"Religious” schools teach their religion to their pupils.
A religion is any belief system, including the unproven theory of evolution. Isn't this theory taught in all schools?
Secondly, terms intended for criticism, such as "fundamentalist” and "happy clapper” have been used by others against my own Christian faith as well.
My faith is not a "fringe sect”, Mr Newton.
If I had lived during the dark years of the Reformation, I would also have been a breakaway from the first church.
The school chaplains are in the schools for good, not harm.
This month of April is a special time to remember those who fought for their rights and beliefs.
So let's do that.
