NORAH Lilly (Daily, May 4) is absolutely correct that aircraft have nothing on bats.
In 2013 we moved into our dream retirement home.
Only a few weeks later 8000 bats moved in to the trees only a few metres from our home.
Up to 22 hours a day of screeching, squabbling and fighting make sleep nearly impossible, even with earplugs.
The smell, the mess and the fact that one per cent (80) could possibly have the deadly lyssavirus.
The council was co-operative but is really limited in what it can do due to the Queensland Labor Government who put the welfare of bats above people.
Because they need Green preferences it is extremely difficult to get any reasonable tree management.
We wanted the roosting branches on about a dozen trees trimmed but it was not possible.
Meanwhile a few thousand trees were bulldozed for the new Caloundra turnoff and associated works.
I now currently live in the flightpath of an airport.
The aircraft have nothing on the bats.
