Amazing display of genuine sportsmanship in final clash

When Adelaide's Erin Phillips went down with a horrific leg injury, while she was being stretchered off, all Carlton players went to her and shook her hand.

I WATCHED something on the weekend that I thought I would never see in my lifetime, I saw a sporting crowd of 53,034 turn up to watch the final of the AFWL between Adelaide and Carlton.

This crowd broke all Australian records for an Australian women's sporting event.

The match had it all - great leaping marks, runaway goals and above all sportsmanship.

When Adelaide's Erin Phillips went down with a horrific leg injury, while she was being stretchered off not one but all of the Carlton players went to her and shook her hand.

The magnificent crowd, regardless of what team they followed, stood and applauded her all the way off the field in a show of genuine sportsmanship that is sadly missing today.

What an example for young girls to emulate in the future.

Well done to all, you should be proud of yourself.

Also well done to the mighty Brisbane Lions who are finally roaring again after so long sounding like and playing like my granny's kitten.
