Noosa scandal fallout: Michael Clarke, Karl Stefanovic, Jade Yarbrough, and Jasmine Stefanovic one year on

It was the story which made headlines across the globe. A shirtless former Australian cricket captain slapped by his then girlfriend before screaming profanities at a television star. We take a look back at ‘Noosagate’ and see what has transpired since.

Michael Clarke and Karl Stefanovic in wild scuffle amid cheating claims

On January 10 last year, footage of a shirtless Michael Clarke and his then girlfriend Jade Yarbrough having an altercation in a Noosa park went viral, with Karl Stefanovic and his wife Jasmine Stefanovic also dragged into the drama.

Captured by a bystander, the vision showcased former Australian cricket captain Clarke and Yarbrough having a fight at Lions Park on Gympie Terrace in Noosaville.

After being alerted to the commotion and recognising the participants, the bystander started recording the incident, with the footage showing Yarbrough accusing Clarke of cheating on her with his ex-girlfriend, celebrity fashion designer Pip Edwards, before going onto slap him.

“You f----d her on December 17 … You f----d her, you’re a f-----g dog,” Yarborough yelled at the time.

After denying the allegations and being slapped across the face, the 2013-14 Ashes series and 2015 Cricket World Cup winning captain turned his attention to Stefanovic, laying down an expletive-laden tirade at his pal who attempted to defuse the situation.

It was the incident which had the whole country talking.

“Karlos, I can tell you now c--t, don’t you f-----g look away. She can, she can punch me, but you, you c--t,” he said.

In the aftermath of the scandal, Clarke and Yarborough were subsequently fined for causing public nuisance, with the former issuing a statement taking responsibility for what had transpired.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED SINCE

Clarke and Yarborough

Clarke returned to the scene of the fracas at Noosa three months later in April, with the New South Welshman making reference to the incident in an Instagram post captioned “Back in Noosa, a little more wholesome this time”.

A few months later, rumours were rife that the couple had reunited, after Yarborough was photographed leaving the former cricket superstar’s home in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney in July.

Speculation the relationship was going strong went berserk in September, after Clarke and Yarborough were seen jetting off on a European getaway, with the pair sighted taking a journey on celebrity accountant Anthony Bell’s luxury superyacht.

While Clarke and Yarborough were both sighted at a Derby Day afterparty in early November, it appears that both have since moved on.

In December, Clarke was seen playing tennis with business identity Silvia Kramska, while Yarborough was spotted with a mystery man on a luxury yacht in Sydney Harbour.

Stefanovic

Despite being bystanders themselves, Karl and Jasmine Stefanovic were forced to swat away attention from the scandal throughout 2023.

However in June, Karl made a slight reference to the scandal in an interview with British journalist Camilla Tominey after she mentioned Prince Harry’s visit to Noosa in 2003.

“You’re 100 percent right about Noosa as well, I mean everyone’s got a phone in Noosa,” he said.

One year on from the incident and the Stefanovics themselves have returned to Noosa over the holiday period, with this visit more low-key compared to last year.

The couple are currently holidaying in the tourist town, with Karl spotted sinking cold ones with Vikings star Travis Fimmel and Edge of Tomorrow actor Kick Gurry at the Sunshine Beach Surf Club over the weekend.
