A Buderim disc jockey who was once convicted for drug dealing on the Sunshine Coast has appeared in court after he damaged a car outside a music studio.

Maroochydore Magistrates Court was told last week how an argument outside Soundbox Studios in Howard St at Nambour on August 3 resulted in thousands in damages to a Holden Colorado.

Police prosecutor Nick Nitschke said it was reported to police the 24-year-old used a chair to smash the passenger window while a rake was used to scratch paint from the side of the vehicle.

Sergeant Nitschke said the 24-year-old spoke to Eumundi police and told them he had a verbal argument at the studio and was removed by a friend.

The police prosecutor said Quinn admitted he was angry at the time but could not recall damaging the vehicle with the items.

The court was told $2175 was wanted in restitution to fix the lawn and garden maintenance company car, which accounted to repair the vehicle along with lost wages and income.

Duty lawyer Breanna Bowtell said the vandalism happened outside the studio that Quinn and his friends hired to make music.

She told the court the fight erupted due to an argument about a woman Quinn and another man were both seeing at the time, which escalated.

Ms Bowtell said she was instructed he was drinking at the time and was regretful for his actions.

The court heard Quinn received a conviction in 2021 for trafficking in MDMA and was sentenced to two years’ probation.

Quinn was fined $1000 and ordered to pay restitution, with no conviction recorded.
