A Sunshine Coast property previously owned by Queensland Olympian Lisa Curry is back on the market, offering the perfect eco-escape.
The 14.18ha property at 271 Lower Mount Mellum Road, Mount Mellum was previously owned by the professional swimmer and multi gold medallist who used it as a weekender to entertain family and friends.
The athlete and television personality sold the property in October, 2017 for $550,000, after buying it in May 2016 for $505,000.
The new owners have since overseen the construction of the current architecturally designed house, which was built in 2019, two years after they purchased the property from Curry.
Both the four-bedroom house and one-bed studio were designed with a focus on sustainability by RG Design Studio and built by Sutton Constructions.
Extra insulation, a wood-burning fireplace and solar-powered energy are a few features included to make living in the hinterland retreat an eco-friendly choice.
The property would encourage any buyer to get back in nature, boasting multiple “food forests”, creeks and three chicken houses.
For buyers looking for the space to run cattle, this hinterland property also features multiple paddocks and a cattle crush.
Marketing manager for the property Kate Godwin said the sustainable aspects were what set it apart from other homes in the area.
“The sellers have applied permaculture principles to create a close loop farming style, there was a lot of focus on it being an energy efficient home,” Ms Godwin said.
“They have had the biogas cooker ordered specifically for this home, it has solar energy and the house was built to maximise airflow, so it requires no artificial cooling.
“Never in my life have I seen a house like this, it has so much thought and dedication poured into it.
“We are hoping to find someone to buy it who has a similar vision for the lifestyle and the scope to keep growing the oasis.”
Ms Godwin said a quirky detail of the property was the stage near the little weekender, which was used by Lisa Curry to host Elvis impersonations.
“They often entertained by the fire pit and hosted family and friends in that space,” Ms Godwin said.
The unique property complete with ocean views is expected to sell somewhere in the mid $2m.
