The director of a collapsed Sunshine Coast building company, with nearly half-a-million in debt, remains uncontactable.
Liquidator Steven Staatz was appointed to wind up the company, MC Coastal Constructions Pty Ltd, by a Supreme Court order in October last year.
The wind up application was filed by WorkCover.
In the report to creditors published on January 21, 2025, Mr Staatz estimated the company’s debt to be “at least” $436,746, however it was revealed the business had not reconciled its electronic management system since July 2019.
Mr Staatz also revealed he believed the company’s director Matthew Robert Currey had potentially breached the act regarding possible uncommercial transactions to himself from the company.
Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents stated Mr Currey last lived in Thornlands in Brisbane’s bayside.
According to an update provided by Mr Staatz’s employer Vincents last week, the company’s director remained uncontactable.
“Despite multiple attempts, our office has been unable to establish contact with the director of MC Coastal Constructions Pty Ltd (In Liquidation), Mr Matthew Currey,” Mr Staatz said.
“We have reported the director’s failure to comply with my requests for the completion of a ROCAP and the provision of books and records to ASIC.”
Mr Currey is excluded from holding a building and carpentry licence until 2027, according to records available on the Queensland Building and Construction Commission.
