Australia's best job? Noosa Brewery looking for Chief Beer Tasting Officer

A Noosa brewery is on the lookout for a person ‘who lives and breathes beer’ to taste test their drops while getting paid an extremely generous hourly rate for their efforts.

Heads of Noosa Brewery is currently recruiting for a Chief Beer Tasting Officer (CBTO) to taste test their limited release brews for 2024.

Established in 2010 out of a garage in Brisbane, the brewery now operates out of a 1700sq m site in the industrial precinct in Noosa Heads, employing over 40 staff who live and breathe beer.

Brewer Lance Masterton said the successful candidate will have “a passion for beer that rivals your love for anything else in life”.

“We’re looking for somebody to sign off on our limited release beers, which we’re looking at doing once per quarter,” Mr Masterton said.

“The role will entail coming to site, tasting the first beer off the packaging line and then giving it a yes or no.

“We’re looking for someone who loves beer, who drinks beer, so they understand the flavour complexities, but really it’s about having a good time and getting to enjoy the beer.”

Mr Masterton added that the successful candidate will be required to analyse the aroma, flavour, overall brew quality, and make critical decisions about whether the beer meets the brewery’s quality control standards.

“It’s a very important component in packaging that we are sure that the quality is great before we actually pull the trigger on packaging the whole batch,” he said.

“Our limited releases are normally a lot more fun style of beer and we want to make sure that we really hit the mark with them.

“We live and breathe beer every day and to be able to work with like-minded people would be a great thing for us.”

In addition to the generous hourly rate the successful candidate will also be provided with a full uniform, free lunch and two cartons of every 2024 Heads of Noosa limited release product.

The role is not limited to Noosa or Sunshine Coast locals, with people from across Australia encouraged to apply.
