Georgia Pearson opens Kismet Tonic and Espresso on Conn St Yandina

Healthy plant-based eats and aesthetically pleasing drinks with a twist are now on offer at a new organic cafe that has just opened its doors. Take a look inside:

A Sunshine Coast yoga instructor and experienced hospitality worker has opened a new plant-based cafe in the town of Yandina with a focus on delicious and healthy drinks.

Owner Georgia Pearson threw open the doors to Kismet Tonic and Espresso on February 22, with an “overwhelming response” from the community already.

“We’ve had great feedback so far with people saying it's just nice to have a quiet space and outlook,” Ms Pearson said.

Ms Pearson said they chose not to have a chef on site due to the shortages.

“I thought well let’s just do a place that is more focused on drinks,” she said.

“Everyone is raving about our 12-mushroom tonic, I think they’re really enjoying how many options we have.”

As well as the unique drinks like mushroom tonics and turmeric lattes, Kismet also offers a range of delicious cabinet food including organic salads, savoury muffins, frittatas and sweet treats.

“We’ve got a really good food options that are prepared by a chef off site,” Ms Pearson said.

With a background in herbalism and hospitality, Ms Pearson said she opened the first ever vegetarian cafe on the Sunshine Coast over a decade ago.

She said Kismet is her latest venture that she had been dreaming about for a while and looking for the perfect space.

“I wanted something with a grassy outlook and I found this which has a big lawn out the front and a creek flowing through it, it's just beautiful,” she said.

Ms Pearson has brought her own personal ethics and healthy eating habits to the cafe, while also prioritising sustainability and local produce.

“I want to show people that they can eat really healthy but it can also be really tasty,” she said.

“A lot of the products we sell are made in and around Yandina so we’re trying to be that community space and support small businesses in the area.”

The welcoming space is filled with plants and bright colours and will also host yoga classes, workshops community events.
