FUNDS are flowing in for popular father and footballer Tim Cornthwaite.

Tim suffered multiple neck fractures during a freak bucks party accident on the Gold Coast on the weekend.

Tim and his fiancee, Chloe Zammit, were due to be married this weekend, and will go ahead with their ceremony, but had delayed their reception six months as Tim recovers.

The pair made a slow trip home from the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital overnight, driving carefully to make sure Tim's head and neck remained stable.

He's been placed in a halo brace, connected to a chest plate, for the next three to six months, to enable his damaged vertebrae to repair.

The community has rallied around the young Meridan Plains couple and their two sons, Luca and Theo, as they face an uncertain six months ahead.

Chloe has been forced to give up work and become Tim's carer, while the concrete cutter by trade may not be able to return to the industry once he heals.

Almost $9000 has been raised in just two days on a Gofundme page set up to help the family, while there are plans under way for a charity soccer match in the next few weeks.

Tim was captain of the Maroochydore Swans first grade side and a talented goalkeeper, but it was unknown whether he would be able to play soccer again after the accident.

The accident happened during a bungy jumping prank, during which he was blindfolded standing up and fell forward into a children's pool, but an awkward landing resulted in the multiple neck fractures.
