Boaties have captured the moment a 5m great white shark decided to “taste test” their tinnie in waters off the Sunshine Coast at the weekend.
Local fisherman Jayden Grace captured the footage off the coast of Mooloolaba on Sunday.
The footage shows the shark circling the boat while Mr Grace and his friend Joe Cook fish.
“Holy, that is huge,” Mr Grace says in the footage.
“He’s not interested in him (a fish on a line), I think he’s more interested in the boat.”
The shark then heads straight for the vessel before biting into its side.
“Whoa whoa whoa, he just bit my boat. He just bit my boat,” Mr Grace says in amazement.
“I think it’s time to leave.”
Vision of the boat back on shore showed large teeth marks the Great White had left.
“Well that’s what the Great White did to me boat,” Mr Grace says.
“Holy f--k. He f---ing smashed me c---. Dang”
Mr Grace described the surprise encounter in a social media post.
“Well that’s something I’ll never forget,” Mr Grace said.
“By far the biggest shark I’ve seen in my life! Easy 5m great white shark has a little taste test of the renegade.”
