Moreton Bay primary school students were returning from a school camp on the Sunshine Coast when their bus and a truck crashed, cutting the Bruce Hwy.
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said it had two crews respond to the crash on the Bruce Hwy southbound at the Glass House Mountains on the Sunshine Coast.
She said there was a crash between a truck and bus at 1.45pm.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said at 2.40pm multiple people were being looked over.
A QAS spokeswoman later said no injuries were reported.
Snapshots of the scene show the logo on the school bus belonging to Grace Lutheran College, which has campuses in Caboolture and Rothwell.
Grace Lutheran College principal David Radke said the school bus was being used by a separate school, Grace Lutheran Primary School.
Grace Lutheran Primary School is in Clontarf, near the college’s Rothwell campus.
Mr Radke said he believed Year Four students were travelling from a camp held at Coolum Beach, and there were no serious injuries.
He said the schools were working with emergency services, and were taking steps to inform their communities and were preparing a bus to pick up students from the crash.
“The matter seems to be in hand from our perspective,” Mr Radke said.
He said whatever needed to be done in terms of investigating the crash would occur in due time.
A Queensland Police spokesman said the Bruce Hwy was still closed head southbound, and diversions along Johnston Rd remain in place.
More to come.
