A man living in a social housing unit complex threatened to murder his neighbours not even a month after he waved a carving knife outside a unit door, a court has heard.

A man has faced court for threatening his neighbours and taking a carving knife to one of their doors.

Darin Leigh Robinson pleaded guilty in Noosa Magistrates Court on April 2 to going armed to cause fear, possessing cannabis, possessing a pipe used to smoke drugs and being a public nuisance.

Magistrate Chris Callaghan told the court on February 5 Robinson had been yelling and threatening violence in his social housing unit complex in Tewantin.

He said Robinson had produced a carving knife and brandished it outside a neighbour’s home by their door.

Mr Callaghan told the court Robinson had threatened to “gut him.”

The court heard on February 23 – after receiving bail – Robinson had “gone off” and threatened to murder everyone in the complex.

In a report submitted to the court it revealed Robinson suffered from PTSD and used cannabis to cope with back pain.

Defence lawyer Belinda Robinson, who represented Robinson in court, and police prosecutor Nick Nitschke did not read the statement of facts or submissions out loud to the court.

Mr Callaghan sentenced Robinson to 12 months of probation and convictions were recorded.
