The developer behind Brisbane’s award-winning The Calile Hotel has submitted fresh designs to the Noosa Council regarding their luxury 2.4ha resort.

The latest development application provided to the Noosa Council by Calile Malouf Investments Pty Ltd, shows proposed new building designs to “substantially modify” the site at 3-7 Serenity Close, Noosa Heads.

The resort currently has council approval to construct 199 units, with a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units and villas, as well as a day spa, swimming pool and restaurant.

However, plans for the “new resort” would instead have 186 units, with a total of 177 consisting of one-bedroom hotel rooms.

The plans show significantly more room for retail outlets, increasing the allocated space for stores from 50sq m to 690sq m, in order to accommodate guests visiting the luxury resort.

An additional rooftop garden is also proposed by the developer to grow organic produce for the resort’s restaurant.

A new layout proposed for The Calile Noosa would involve the relocation of the resort’s restaurants and bars to centre around the swimming pool.

According to the planning report the updated resort would involve the relocation of buildings and a new layout centring around the large swimming pool.

“The plan amendments have relocated buildings away from the Serenity Close frontage, altered the roof form and building massing, introduced additional external and balcony finishes and relocated retail facilities to underneath the building,” the planning report stated.

Calile Malouf Investments’s director, Michael Malouf, said they hoped to start work on the site next year, with the project expected to take three years to complete.

The latest plans are set to go before the council’s planning and environment committee on Tuesday, October 8.
