A woman involved in a scheme to produce false payslips in order to secure finance for a car was financially dependant on her former partner, a court has been told.

Alexandra Chiodo, 34, appeared in the Maroochydore District Court on Tuesday, January 30, where she pleaded guilty to one charge of uttering a forged document.

The court was told the charge was in relation to a fraudulent payslip used to obtain a $41,000 car loan to purchase a Jeep Cherokee in 2021.

Crown prosecutor Michael Andronicus told the court Chiodo was financially dependant on her partner at the time and was aware he had produced false payslips for her in the loan application.

“On the third of February 2021 (Chiodo’s former partner) sent the defendant two pdf documents which showed she was paid a total monthly wage of $6,667 as an employee of the Noosa Box Office pty ltd company,” Mr Andronicus said.

“In reality though the defendant was not employed by this company, she did not receive that wage.”

Mr Andronicus told the court when a third payslip for Chiodo was requested she passed the message onto her former partner.

“She then sent him a message asking him to produce this to secure the finance, he confirmed to her he would do so that night and subsequently produced a third payslip,” Mr Andronicus said.

Mr Andronicus told the court the loan had since been paid in full.

Chiodo’s defence solicitor Samantha Farr told the court the 34-year-old mother-of-one was looking to find a job in the alternative medicine industry adding the car had been a purchase for the couple’s child.

“My client was pregnant at the time and wished for a new car for the safety of her child,” Ms Farr said.

Maroochydore District Court judge Gary Long told the court Chiodo’s offence occurred once she asked her former partner for the third payslip.

“Because of your relationship with this man there was a desire to obtain this car, albeit for your use as you were pregnant,” Mr Long said.

Chiodo was fined $1000 and placed on a good behaviour bond.
