Police investigate fires near, graffiti on bridge in Stanthorpe

Police are appealing to the community for assistance after a bridge was allegedly vandalised and fires lit in the Southern Downs. Update here.

Police are continuing to investigate related incidents in Stanthorpe at the weekend.

Two people were taken into custody after they allegedly graffitied and started a fire near a bridge in Stanthorpe on Sunday.

However, it is now understood no formal charges have been laid against the pair.

Emergency services were called to Red Bridge Court in Stanthorpe at 1.40pm, a Queensland Police Service spokesman said.

Queensland Fire Department crews worked to extinguish a small scrub fire, which was under control by 2.15pm.

A QPS spokesman said police are appealing to anyone who may have information that might assist to come forward.
