A Stanthorpe man allegedly punched his mate in the face during an alcohol-fuelled night at a Stanthorpe pub.

Stanthorpe police officer-in-charge Gerard Brady said police were called to the Central Hotel at 1pm on July 25 after reports of an assault.

“Police will allege a 39-year-old man from Stanthorpe punched another man in the mouth,” he said.

Sergeant Brady said the victim of the punch was known to his attacker, but declined to make an assault complaint.

He said the punch caused no injury to the man’s face.

The 39-year-old will front Stanthorpe Magistrates Court on August 18 for a public nuisance charge.
