Pfizer clinic set to open at Texas Memorial Hall this week

The short-term clinic will bring the in-demand Covid jab to residents on the Granite Belt this week. Here’s everything you need to know.

The Texas community and those from the surrounding towns, will be able to access the Pfizer Covid vaccine at a new clinic this week.

A Darling Downs Health vaccination clinic administering the Pfizer vaccine will be set-up at the Texas Memorial Hall on Thursday and Friday.

DDH Emergency Operations Centre executive lead Annette Scott said that if anyone in the community had questions about the vaccine to talk to their doctor or health care worker for up-to-date information.

“This vaccination clinic will ensure better protection for communities around the border areas and Southern Downs,” she said.

“We have seen how the COVID-19 landscape can change quite quickly so we want to ensure that residents in these areas have ready access to vaccinations.”

All residents aged 16-60 will be eligible for the vaccine at the clinic.

The clinic will be open from 8.30am to 5.30pm on Thursday and Friday for walk-in appointments only.

People who have received one dose of the Astra Zeneca vaccine, which has been provided recently through GPs and Aboriginal Medical Services, should receive a second dose of Astra Zeneca and not a Pfizer vaccine.

If you plan to attend the clinic you must bring ID, your Medicare card and a pen.

Southern Downs residents will be also able to access the vaccine next week at the Warwick clinic, set-up from Tuesday through to Saturday.

The news comes as the Stanthorpe community received their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine last week.
