Despite a crippling shortage of the variant nationwide limiting initial dosage numbers, dozens of residents across the region are already booked in to roll up their sleeves for the vaccine.

WARWICK
Condamine Medical Centre
The large medical practice was one of two GP clinics in Warwick approved for the first round of the Pfizer rollout.
Condamine Medical Centre co-owner Dr Lynton Hudson said the clinic would begin administering the vaccine from Tuesday, but numbers would be very limited at this stage.
“The issue is we’re not getting heaps of it, (so) most of that Pfizer is already marked out for people who are frontline health workers in town,” Dr Hudson said.
“For general people it looks like it will probably be a month before we can roll it out to them.
“If we get 500 a week then that changes the whole ball game, and we’re hoping that happens.”
Dr Hudson said the clinic was also focused on making the vaccination booking and registration processes available online as soon as possible.
Pfizer doses are being administered at the clinic’s second base at 67 Guy Street.
AstraZeneca is available to under 60s at the Wood Street clinic from Monday to Thursday, and to over 60s with GP approval.

Carbal Medical Services
Carbal Medical Services in Warwick was also given access to the Pfizer vaccine in addition to their existing AstraZeneca rollout.
Acting practice manager Janet Eyles said the practice was making the jab available to anyone aged 18-60, with appointments already close to booked out.
“It’s getting very busy, we’re pretty much booked solid and it’s increasing. We’ve got a waiting list for the Pfizer,” she said.
“I don’t think there’s an issue with supply, or at least not at this stage.”
The AstraZeneca vaccine remains available for residents aged over 60.

Neither Rose City Medical Centre nor Peppertree Medical is offering COVID vaccinations at this stage.
STANTHORPE
Granite Belt Medical Services
The large Stanthorpe medical clinic was the only one on the Granite Belt to be granted access to the Pfizer vaccine.
Practice manager Trish Cuthbert said residents would be able to book in from Tuesday, but a small number of doses meant restricted access.
“At this stage we are very limited with numbers, so we’re going to open it to 40- to 59-year-olds,” she said.
“We’re just going to start with our patients and when we get through them we’re going to open it up to everyone.”
Mrs Cuthbert said the only exception to the clinic’s limits would be frontline workers, who would be accepted regardless of their usual medical provider.
Granite Belt Medical Services is also administering the AstraZeneca vaccine to over 60s.

The Allora practice declined to comment on their COVID vaccination program when contacted by the Daily News.
CLIFTON
Clifton Medical Practice
Clifton Community Health Services general manager Brad Jones said the GP clinic was in the process of applying for Pfizer and would continue rolling out AstraZeneca in the meantime.
“Like the wider community, there’s some vaccine hesitancy in some regards, but we would certainly encourage everyone to get their own reliable independent medical advice and act sooner rather than later,” he said.
Clifton Medical Practice is offering the AstraZeneca vaccine to those aged over 60 or other residents with GP approval.

The Pfizer vaccination rollout comes only weeks after more than 2000 Southern Downs residents received the jab at a “super clinic” at Goondiwindi Hospital.
