Hundreds gathered outside the Kingaroy Scouts Hall to welcome 20 new Australian Citizens sworn in on Australia Day.
Members of South Burnett Regional Council were in attendance along with firefighters, volunteers and scout members.
There was also whip cracking, tug-o-war and lots of food stalls.
New Australian citizen and Kingaroy resident Iwena Viljoen said she and her family were very happy to become citizens after five years of living here.
The family immigrated from South Africa and Ms Viljoen said they felt safer and had more opportunities, especially for the children.
“We enjoy every minute, we won’t go back ... this country is amazing,” Ms Viljoen said.
She said it was “amazing” to see the community show up to watch the new citizens being sworn in.
“I can’t say anything bad about the South Burnett, it’s been great.”
