A Kingaroy mother of five was “dragged” from beneath a water tank on a rural property near Toowoomba, after a police dog tracked her from a stolen car that had crashed.

Jesse Anne Treverton had to be treated by paramedics for injuries to her shoulder, after the dog squad was called in to track her and another person following the crash in Torrington on June 19.

Treverton appeared in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Monday, charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and trespass.

The court was told she was observed as a passenger in a stolen vehicle that fled from police in Wilsonton.

When the vehicle was found abandoned, the dog squad tracked Treverton and another person to a rural property in Torrington where she was discovered near a water tank and trying to hide herself under a chair.

Treverton was represented in court by Jay Rose, who told the court her client had been “severely addicted” to meth at the time and had “panicked” after the stolen vehicle had crashed.

Ms Rose told the court Treverton was dragged by the police dog “less than two metres” along the ground, causing a minor injury paramedics treated with paracetamol and a cold pack.

She said the 33-year-old had since moved from Toowoomba to the Kingaroy area, had been clean for three months and was no longer associating with friends with whom she used to use drugs.

Magistrate Andrew Sinclair told Treverton it was “good you’re addressing you drug problem now and that you’ve moved away from poor influences”.

Treverton was sentenced to 12 months’ probation and convictions were recorded.
