A 22-year-old man has been charged for allegedly slamming a woman’s arms and hands in a car door at a Kingaroy shopping centre car park.

A 22-year-old Cherbourg man will face the Kingaroy court after allegedly slamming his victim’s arms and hands in her car door as he attempted to steal the vehicle at Kingaroy Shoppingworld.

A 22-year-old Cherbourg man will appear before the Kingaroy Magistrates Court charged with attacking a female disability support carer in a shopping centre car park as he tried to steal her car.

Gregory Lewis Arthur Duncan has been charged with one count each of robbery with violence, attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing drug utensils.

A Queensland Police spokesman said the alleged incident occurred on June 30, 2023 about 1.40pm at the Kingaroy Shoppingworld carpark on Alford Street.

“It will be alleged she was approached by a man who grabbed the car keys from her hands, before he attempted to steal her vehicle,” the spokesman said.

“The woman approached the man as he entered the driver’s seat, when he allegedly assaulted her by slamming her hands and arms in the car door, while attempting to close it.

“It will be alleged the man then ran from the scene, dropping the car keys,” he said.

The 22-year-old woman suffered minor injuries. A search warrant was executed at a Cherbourg address on July 5, where cannabis and drug utensils were allegedly found by police.

Mr Duncan was taken into custody and refused bail.
