A young man charged with slamming a stolen car into the glass entrance of a Kingaroy business will await his next court mention behind bars.

Cherbourg man Clifford Dynevor appeared via video link before Gympie Magistrates Court facing a string of charges, including stealing a vehicle and using it the commit an indictable offence, namely ram-raiding Kingaroy SportFirst in July.

Police will allege in the early hours of July 4, the 19-year-old used a white Ford falcon stolen from a Wondai residence the night before to break into the Alford street business and steal clothing.

When police located Dynevor the next day he was wearing all black, allegedly matching the description of the person captured on the store’s CCTV, and accompanied by a person wearing a cap allegedly taken from a place in question.

Dyenor is currently facing 28 charges for alleged offences committed between April and July 2021, including entering a premises and committing an indictable offence, wilful damage, attempting to enter a dwelling with intent, unlawfully using a vehicle to commit an indictable offence, stealing a vehicle, trespass, possessing drug utensils, unlicensed driving, breaching bail, and failing to appear in court.

Lawyer Bonnie Djordjevic said while Dynevor made some admissions to police, the interview was problematic.

Ms Djordjevic said her client was not provided with legal advice before the interview, didn’t appear to understand the caution, and was under the influence of methamphetamine.

Mr Callaghan denied Dynevor bail, saying his alleged offending has been “relentless” in recent months and the 19-year-old presented an unacceptable risk of reoffending.

The case will be mentioned again in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on August 16.
