NYE GUIDE: Where to see fireworks in the Wide Bay

New Year’s Eve celebrations are set to light up the night sky on Sunday night despite a week of wild weather. See the list of fireworks displays in the South Burnett, Gympie, Rainbow Beach and the Fraser Coast.

As we wrap up 2023 New Year’s Eve celebrations are set to light up the night sky on Sunday night despite a week of wild weather. See the full list of fireworks displays taking place in the South Burnett, Gympie, Rainbow Beach and the Fraser Coast.

GYMPIE REGION

Gympie

Location: Nelson Reserve from 6pm to 10pm.

Gympie will be hosting New Year’s Eve celebrations at the Nelson Reserve on Sunday from 4pm to 9.30pm.

The event include rides for the kids, a rock climbing wall, petting zoo, food stalls and live music.

The fireworks display will be at 9pm.

Road closures will be in place for Monkland Street, Gympie from 6pm to 10pm.

Tin Can Bay

Location: Tom Steele Oval beside the water tower at 8:30pm.

The Tin Can Bay New Year’s Eve fireworks display is on again this year the community can enjoy the free event that aims to create a space where locals and visitors can connect, socialise and bring in 2024 with a bang.

Rainbow Beach

Location: Rainbow Beach foreshore at 9pm.

There will be a free fireworks display at the Rainbow Beach foreshore at 9pm for residents to enjoy.

Imbil

Location: Railway Hotel Imbil from 7pm to 2am

No fireworks, but local guitar heroes Guitar Cozzy, Greg James and Glen Nayler

SOUTH BURNETT

Boondooma

Location: Lake Boondooma Van and Camp Recreation park at 7pm.

An event will be held at Lake Boondooma on Sunday with a fireworks display from 7pm.

There will be live music and accommodation is available for visitors which can be booked in advance on the Lake Boondooma Van and Camp Recreation park website.

FRASER COAST

Hervey Bay

Location: Bill Fraser Park Torquay from 2pm to 8pm.

Come and celebrate New Year’s Eve with this event from 2pm with markets and music and family fireworks at 8pm Music with Jon Vea Vea and guest artists.

Note the Esplanade will be closed from Tavistock street thru to Bideford Street from 11am to 9pm.

Maryborough

Location: Maryborough Cricket Club, 46 Ariadne St from 5pm to 9pm.

Due to weather forecast and the amount of water on the field, outdoor celebrations have been cancelled, but the bistro and live entertainment will go ahead inside the Club.

The Family Fun day originally planned has been postponed to Australia Day.
