A Kingaroy man facing more than a dozen serious allegations, including rape and assault, is getting closer to standing trial.

The 40-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with four counts of common assault, two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, six counts of rape, one count of sexual assault, and one count of unlawful stalking, intimidation, harassment or abuse.

The alleged assaults all occurred about February last year.

The court heard there was one alleged victim, an adult woman, who would need to take the stand for “a couple of days” due to the length of her statement.

Due to the sexual nature of the allegations, her evidence would need to be pre recorded.

Reportedly, she no longer lives in the South Burnett region and the pre recording may be able to be done in Brisbane.

Judge Carl Heaton adjourned the matter for a mention on Wednesday, May 14, to be updated the court on whether the pre recording could be arranged.

No pleas have been entered, and the defendant is currently on bail.

The trial is due to start in September, pending how long other court proceedings during the district court sitting that month will take.
