Hervey Bay Seafood Festival for 2022

Bacon lovers can rejoice as sizzling three-day festival BaconFest is back in full force this weekend, finally bringing the region’s foodies something to drool over after a two-year hiatus under Covid.

There’s an event to appeal to all tastes across the South Burnett this weekend, with plenty of other live entertainment and sports lined up to keep residents and visitors alike on the go.

The highly-anticipated three-day food festival is back in action this year and will include entertainment for the entire family to enjoy.

BaconFest 2022 has a jam-packed program that includes exciting events such as the bacon eating and smoke-off competitions, live music, cooking demos with celebrity chefs Matt Golinski and Miguel Maestre, beer and wine gardens, artisan markets and more.

Lovers of bacon will also be treated to a range of delicious options like bacon ice cream, bacon fries and more.

Rasher’s Race – BaconFest

The Rasher’s Race is a running and cycling event that kickstarts the weekend and allows guests to participate in some friendly competition.

Whether you partake in the 4km or 10km walk, run or ride, you will have the opportunity to discover the South Burnett region along Queensland’s longest-sealed rail trail.

Guests are encouraged to wear their best piggy outfit as prizes are being given out for best dressed.

Bacon Chomp Comp – BaconFest

BaconFest is looking to crown their sizzling chomp comp champion in this year’s bacon-eating competition.

Two competition heats will be held in which bacon lovers will eat 200g of bacon with their hands tied behind their back as quickly as possible, with the heat winners to then face off in the finals.

The competition winner will take home a year’s supply of bacon.

WHEN: Saturday, 10:15am and 2pm

Little Piggies – BaconFest

Little Piggies is entertainment for kids aged 12 and under while at BaconFest, located next to the food court so parents can be close by while kids are occupied with the play equipment.

The Australian Breastfeeding Society has provided a private space at Little Piggies for guardians to change nappies and take their kids to the toilet.

Beard of BaconFest

Event organisers launched the ‘Beard of BaconFest’ in 2020 as part of their online festival, and the quirky addition is now a regular part of the program.

The tradition continues this year as those with beards to boast about are being asked to jump on the stage and take part in the Beard of BaconFest competition.

Nominees will be judged on personality, presentation and beard.

Pin-Up Pageant – BaconFest

Guests at BaconFest can check out the pin-up pageant competition, which will see ten finalists battle it out on stage for the crown.

Bettie Butcher from Pin-ups of Australia will be hosting the event, which is open to anyone with a festival entry ticket.

Live Music at Commercial Hotel, BaconFest

There is a long list of artists to choose from when it comes to live music at Bacon Fest this year.

As part of the weekend-long festival, patrons will be treated to Mikey Edwards, DJ Serendipity and Remedy Live all at the Commercial Hotel.

WHEN: Friday 4pm to 8:30pm

Scots in the Bush

Celtic Psychosis will be on stage at Scots in the Bush at Boondooma Homestead on August 16-19.

The music event that celebrates Celtic culture will brings bagpipes, drums and kilts to the bush for five days.

There’s a long list of musical performances including room for walk-up performers during the festival, along with bar, meals and stalls available throughout the event.

Skate Date

Nanango Skating Rink is hosting a ‘skate date’ and inviting residents to tie up their rollerskates and hit the rink while enjoying the fresh air.

All participants must bring their own skates to take part.

Aussie Angus Brangus Bull Sale
