GALLERY: Kids dive in to Byte Nite fun

The community initiative, run by South Burnett PCYC has been dubbed a huge success.

EIGHTY children got the chance to cool off and chill out at Byte Nite at the Murgon Jubilee Swimming Pool on Saturday night.

Run by the South Burnett PCYC, Byte Nite provides South Burnett kids the opportunity to have some weekend fun in a safe, supervised venue.

South Burnett Regional Council deputy mayor and Byte Nite volunteer Kathy Duff said the sessions at the Murgon pool had been a huge success.

“We can only have 80 at the pool because we only have two lifesavers, and we have been full both evenings,” she said.

Byte Nite has proven to be a huge success, but it wouldn’t happen without the volunteers.

“They are simply awesome giving up their Saturday evenings to help our community and our kids,” Cr Duff said.

“The idea of these nights is not just about keeping the kids off the streets for one night a week, it is about building relationships with them.”
