The stakes are high and the competition is sizzling as residents have their say as to where you can find Western Queensland’s best steak.

One of the front runners in the poll so far has been the Overlander Homestead’s steakhouse, which owner Amanda Weyman-Jones said serves the highest-rated beef “this side of Brisbane”.

Mrs Weyman-Jones said she is incredibly proud of the quality of meat their restaurant serves up.

“It’s what meat is meant to taste like,” she said.

All the beef is hereford prime, she said, which is important because it is produced organically, without toxins or poisons.

Mrs Weyman-Jones said her parents built the Overlander in 1984, and she now carries on the proud tradition of quality.

However, it is still up to readers to decide where the best steak is served. The poll will be open until Friday, October 8.
