The meat-eaters of Western Queensland have spoken, and close to half agree, that the best steak in the region can be found at Roma’s Overlander Motel steakhouse.

Even before the storied institution was declared the champion, the owner, Amanda Weyman-Jones said she already knew the restaurant served the highest-rated beef “this side of Brisbane”.

Mrs Weyman-Jones said she was incredibly proud of the quality of meat their restaurant served up.

“It’s what meat is meant to taste like,” she said.

All the beef is hereford prime, she said, which is important because it is produced organically, without toxins or poisons.

Mrs Weyman-Jones said her parents built the Overlander in 1984, and she now carries on the proud tradition of quality.

The Overlander secured 46 per cent of the vote in our official poll, and support for the institution on social media was palpable.

Terri Radunz said the Overlander consistently has great service, and never disappoints.

“Steak always cooked to perfection served with generous sides.”

Shaun Nolan said he frequents many of the restaurants who were in the running, but the Overlander topped them all for quality.

The runner up was the Queens Arms in Roma, which secured 19 per cent, followed by the White Bull Tavern in Roma which had 11 per cent of the vote.
