Zac Warren-Rourke weapons charges added to attempted murder case

A Central Queensland roofer accused of attempting to murder a man by shooting them has been slapped with further charges.

A Central Queensland roofer accused of attempting to murder a man who previously lived with his employee has been slapped with further charges.

Zac Anthony Warren-Rourke, 22, of Koongal was charged in March with one count each of attempted murder and acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm along with two counts of enter dwelling and commit.

The charges were laid following police investigations into two separate shootings and two robberies at a property in Peter St, Rockhampton between February 21 and March 6, 2025.

Mr Warren-Rourke is accused of attempting to murder a man who lived in a Koongal house where Mr Warren-Rourke’s employee and co-accused Thomas Craig Grundy, 22, had previously lived.

Fresh charges of one count of possessing more than two grams of a schedule one drug, one of contravening an order about electronically stored information, one of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two of unlawful possession of category A/B or M weapon, one of unlawful possession of category D/H/R weapon, three of receiving tainted property and two of possessing explosives illegally were first mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on May 14.

Police have accused Mr Grundy of being the second man involved in the alleged incidents.

He works for Zac and his father Anthony (who has not been charged with any offences), who both now run Zac’s twin brother Max’s roofing company.

Max died in a catastrophic truck explosion on August 30 last year which shut down the Bruce Highway for several days and left a deep crater in the road south of Gladstone.

Mr Grundy, also of Koongal, has been charged with one count each of one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and threatening violence by discharge firearm or other act along with two counts of enter dwelling and commit.

Mr Warren-Rourke’s attempted murder charge stems from an alleged shooting on February 21 while one enter dwelling is from March 2 and the other charges are from March 5.

Mr Warren-Rourke’s legal representative told Rockhampton Magistrates Court on May 14 that KA Criminal Law would be conferencing with their client on the fresh charges in the coming weeks.

The representative said Mr Warren-Rourke intends to apply for Supreme Court bail in the future.

All of Mr Warren-Rourke’s charges will next be mentioned on June 25.

Mr Warren-Rourke has been remanded in custody.

No pleas have been entered yet for any charges.
