The family of a teen critically injured when he was hit by a vehicle in Yeppoon, remain by his bedside in Brisbane after he was flown down for further surgery.
Emergency services were called to the incident on the corner of Bungundarra and Woodbury Roads, Bungundarra, just after 8pm on Friday, January 19.
The teenager sustained a significant leg injury and was rushed from the scene to Capricorn Coast Hospital in a serious condition.
The RACQ Capricorn Rescue service was called a short time later and they flew the man to Rockhampton Hospital for surgery.
Initial police reports indicate a man was driving around the corner when his vehicle “clipped” the teenager, who was on the side of the road.
Police charged the driver, a 36-year-old Bungundarra man, with drink driving after returning an alleged reading of .125.
The driver is due to appear in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on February 22.
Another man was treated for a foot injury following a separate accident which also involved a pedestrian and car in another Yeppoon suburb later that night.
Queensland Ambulance Service was called to the incident on Bayview Drive in Lammermoor at 11.54pm.
The man, in his 40s, was taken to Capricorn Coast Hospital in a stable condition.
