Rockhampton Suzuki rider fined, charged after allegedly clocked 257km/h

Police have discovered the identity of a Suzuki motorbike rider one month after they allegedly clocked him going 157km/h over the speed limit.

A 40-year-old man has been fined and charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle after police allegedly clocked him travelling 157km over the speed limit at Norman Gardens in April this year.

On April 19, police were conducting mobile patrols along Yeppoon Road when they observed a white Suzuki motorcycle allegedly being driven at high speed around 1.20pm.

The male rider was detected travelling at 257km/hr in a 100km/hr zone and allegedly failed to stop at police direction.

Following investigations, the motorcycle and rider were identified and on May 30 a man from Park Avenue was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle and evasion.

He was issued a $1854 fine, lost eight demerit points, and given a six-month licence suspension.

He is due to appear before Rockhampton Magistrates Court on July 30.
