Two women have faced court charged in relation to an incident at a Central Queensland child care centre where a young girl was allegedly left on a bus earlier this year.
Tara Alyce Steers, 30, and Bianca Maree Reynolds, 31, are each charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.
They both appeared in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Tuesday, July 26.
Police allege the women picked up a child, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, about 8.30am on May 4, and drove to a childcare centre at Gracemere where they parked the bus and left the child inside the vehicle.
It is further alleged another staff member drove the bus to a school at Gracemere, about 2.45pm, and observed the child unconscious in the back of the vehicle.
The child was unconscious and was taken into the centre where staff began CPR and emergency services were called.
She was in a critical condition, taken to Rockhampton Hospital and then flown to Brisbane for treatment at the Queensland Children’s Hospital.
She has since recovered and returned home.
Ms Steers was represented by lawyer David Mills, who ordered a brief of evidence and asked for the matter to be adjourned.
Ms Reynolds was represented by solicitor Allan Grant, who also ordered a brief of evidence and asked for the matter to be adjourned.
Both women’s matters were adjourned to September 14.
