Rockhampton 18yo and 19yo charged after alleged armed robbery

An 18yo man and a 19yo woman are accused of committing a terrifying armed robbery, with the man allegedly wielding a machete.

Police have charged two people following an alleged armed robbery at Berserker on Saturday, May 24.

A man, 18, and woman, 19, are accused of committing a terrifying armed robbery at a Musgrave St, Berserker business at the weekend.

Police allege the Frenchville man entered the business about 3pm on Saturday, May 24 and produced a machete, then smashed two glass cabinets and threatened an employee.

The man then allegedly stole a quantity of cash and cigarettes from the store before leaving in a black Holden Cruze.

The employee was not physically injured.

Police arrested the man and woman at a Gladstone Road address on Tuesday, May 27.

The man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery and contravening an order about information necessary to access information stored electronically.

He appeared before Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday, May 28.

The 19-year-old Frenchville woman has been charged with one count of armed robbery.

She is due to appear before Rockhampton Magistrates Court on June 11.

Investigations are continuing.
