Biloela house ‘fully engulfed’ in flames

Several streets were blocked off as firefighters battled a fire that engulfed a house in a small Central Qld town.

Firefighters have entered a house that was consumed by fire in Biloela, west of Gladstone.

The fire started at the house located on Grevillea Ln on Thursday, May 29 with two crews arriving at 11.17am.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said everyone was out of the house when crews arrived and the house was fully engulfed in flames.

According to the spokeswoman, multiple breathing apparatus teams entered the building, but all had exited by 12.53pm with fire crews currently undertaking ventilation work with the response operation scaling down.

The Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said the fire had been contained to just the one property.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the houses surrounding the Grevillea Ln home have been evacuated and the streets surrounding the block where the fire is located - Grevillea Lane, Grevillea St, Barrett St and Prospect St - have all been blocked off.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics checked one female teenager as a precautionary measure, but there have been no injuries.
