Portmoresbey Cecil indicted in Supreme Court for alleged murder of Sue Duffy
The case against a Central Queensland man charged with allegedly killing a beloved grandmother has reached the Supreme Court more than a year after his arrest.

The man charged with the murder of a beloved grandmother allegedly slain in her Rockhampton home has been formally indicted in the Supreme Court.
Portmoresbey Cecil, 36, was charged with the murder of his estranged mother-in-law Susan Margaret Duffy, who was 71 when she was allegedly killed in her West St, Allenstown, home on August 21, 2022.
It is alleged Mrs Duffy sustained “substantial injuries” believed to be caused by a “bladed instrument”.
The single count indictment was handed up in the Supreme Court in Rockhampton on Tuesday, February 7.
Defence solicitor Rebecca Harris sought a one-week adjournment to seek further instructions from Mr Cecil by video conference now the indictment had been presented.
Justice Graeme Crow adjourned Mr Cecil’s matter to February 15.
Mr Cecil was remanded in custody on the charge at Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre in Wacol.
He was born in New Zealand and was unemployed at the time of his arrest.
