Investigations are ongoing into reports of loud explosions in the Rockhampton region on Saturday night.

Social media went into a frenzy after 6pm after multiple Gracemere residents reported hearing loud explosions in the suburb.

Some even said they felt their homes shake as a result of the “explosions”.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said officers received multiple reports of the explosion in the Gracemere area.

Police are investigating what could have caused the commotion.

On Wednesday, a QPS spokeswoman said investigations remained ongoing.

The spokeswoman said police were made aware of the loud noises heard in the Gracemere area, however no location could be pinpointed.

An Energy Queensland spokesman said there were a couple of unplanned outages in the Gracemere area on Saturday.

The spokesman said one had caused some sparking caused by branches clashing lines together impacting a single customer between 6.51pm and 9.51pm and the other was an equipment fault that also resulted in some sparking with 32 customers impacted between 3.26pm and 6.54pm.

However, neither reported any explosions and the faults didn’t line up with anything that would cause loud noise.
