A convicted Central Queensland drug trafficker, jailed in 2022 for selling to at least three teenagers, is back before the courts for his alleged ongoing involvement in the illegal business.

Mount Morgan father Jeramiah Owen Warriner remanded in custody after charged with two counts of supplying drugs and possessing marijuana.

Police have “overwhelming evidence” a convicted drug trafficker has continued his illegal business, Rockhampton Magistrates Court has heard.

Jeramiah Owen Warriner, 37, previously received a 2.5 year prison term, wholly suspended and operational for four years, when sentenced for trafficking and supplying to at least three teenagers in May 2022.

He was back in custody and made a bail application in Rockhampton court on Wednesday - this time charged with two counts of supplying a dangerous drug, possessing a drug, possessing drug utensils and possess property suspected to be proceeds of a drug crime.

Police prosecutor Sergeant David Longhurst said the 2.5 year prison term hanging over Mr Warriner’s head did not, allegedly, stop him from offending.

He said there was “overwhelming evidence” he had continued to supply drugs.

“He is (allegedly) so thoroughly engrossed in the drug trade that he will continue to commit offences in that same area,” Sergeant Longhurst said.

Defence lawyer Samantha Legrady said the two supply allegations involved supplies to one person.

“There is no allegation that there are several supplies or several people,” she said.

“I have instructions one of the supplies was he gave the person $100.”

Ms Legrady said it was accepted her client did supply the person with marijuana as was alleged in the facts for the first supply charge.

She said Mr Warriner was a full-time father of two living in Mount Morgan.

Ms Legrady said his phone has been seized by police.

Acting magistrate Paul Byrne said the allegations involved Mr Warriner possessing 290 grams of marijuana and $2600 in cash.

He said the allegations were “quite similar” to those he was sentenced for last year, “perhaps not as serious because he hasn’t been charged with trafficking”.

Mr Byrne refused to grant Mr Warriner bail, ordered briefs of evidence for four of the five charges, remanded him in custody and adjourned his matters to October 25.
