Man with suspected spinal injuries after motorbike crash at Byfield

A motorbike rider has been flown to hospital in a rescue helicopter after a crash on the Capricorn Coast on Friday morning.

Crews were called to the incident on Byfield Rd at Byfield about 9.27am.

It is understood the accident occurred while the man was dirt bike riding.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said paramedics assessed the man, aged in his 40s, at the scene for suspected spinal injuries.

The CapRescue helicopter was tasked to the incident, with paramedics to meet with the Rescue300 crew to transport the man to hospital.

The CapRescue team landed at a nearby Ranger Station to meet paramedics and help stabilise the patient.

The man was taken to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.

A man who was riding with the injured motorcyclist, who wished to remain anonymous, said they were riding through a forest area when the man crashed.

“It’s could have been a lot worse than it actually was,” the man said.

“It happens to everyone it’s just one of those things that happens with dirt bike riding.”
