Gold Coast man Nathanael John Prange possessed 1kg meth worth up to $1m

One of the men accused of a Covid lockdown drug haul of 1kg of meth found in Central Queensland worth up to $1 million has faced court over his involvement in the crime.

A man accused of a major Covid lockdown drug haul in Central Queensland has entered a plea.

Gold Coast resident Nathanael John Prange and another man were charged after police found 1kg of methamphetamine and weapons in Yeppoon during the August 2021 Covid lockdown.

The drugs were worth $500,000 to $1 million.

Prange entered a plea of guilty on February 23 in the Supreme Court in Rockhampton to a charge of possessing over 200 grams of a schedule one drug.

Prange and former prison officer Stephen Gary Crisp were charged after a police raid in Serengeti Court, Yeppoon on August 5, 2021.

It is alleged Prange travelled from locked-down Brisbane to Yeppoon with Mr Crisp.

Mr Crisp’s charges are one count of possessing a schedule one drug over 200gms, two of unlawful possession of weapons, one possession of property suspected of having been acquired for the purpose of committing a drug offence, one of possessing used drug utensils, one of possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of a drug offence, one of illegal possession of explosives, one possessing a restricted drug and one of possessing a knife in a public place.

He was committed in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on September 16, 2022, to stand trial in the Rockhampton Supreme Court. An indictment has yet to be presented.

Prange’s sentence is scheduled for March 16 and his bail was enlarged.
