Driver accused of Capricorn Coast fatal crash identified

The driver accused of being at fault in the fatal crash which claimed the life of Capricorn Coast teen Rhys Yore has been identified.

The driver accused of being at fault in the fatal crash which claimed the life of Capricorn Coast teenager Rhys Yore has been identified.

The Morning Bulletin has confirmed Owen Andrew Dendle, 18, has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm or death and his matters have been committed to the district court.

The indictment containing the dangerous operation charge has yet to be mentioned in the higher court.

Rhys, 16, died in a crash on Appleton Drive, near Fig Tree Creek Bridge, on January 21.

It will be alleged a silver Ford Falcon Sedan was travelling south on Appleton Drive before it left the road and rolled.

The alleged driver, Mr Dendle, sustained minor injuries and a female, 16, had chest and abdominal injuries.

Rhys was a St Brendan’s College student.

The Taranganba teen is remembered for his sense of humour, easygoing nature and a “send it” philosophy – encouraging people to live life to the fullest.

St Brendan’s principal Robert Corboy said Rhys joined the college as a Year 7 student in 2017.
