Emergency services are at the scene of a car fire on a highway in Central Queensland.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said they were called at 12.40pm to a single vehicle car fire on the Capricorn Highway near Dingo at 12.40pm today.

He said there was currently one QFD crew and one rural crew at the scene near the Cooinda Road intersection.

The spokesman said the car was “well alight” when fire crews arrived and it has now spread and caused a vegetation fire.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said there were QPS officers at the scene.

He said everyone was out of the vehicle.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said there was a QAS crew at the scene and no one was being assessed.

Traffic has been stopped while fire crews work.

The QFD spokesman said the fire had been contained and the scene was now secure.
