Brenton Ray Belleville in court for driving without due care and attention
Dramatic details of the moment a Nissan crashed into a train at a crossing and was dragged along the track have been revealed.

A mine supervisor who drove his Nissan head on into a train, causing $25,000 worth of damage, claims he could not hear the train and that his vision was obscured by the tree line and reflection of the sun.
Rockhampton Magistrates Court heard Brenton Ray Belleville, 34, was driving along Dawson Rd, Glenlee, on April 3 when at the rail crossing he crashed his vehicle into the front carriage of a Queensland Rail train.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Darrell Dalton said there were red flashing lights.
The court heard Belleville’s car was dragged by the train into a traffic light and guard rail, causing extensive damage.
Sergeant Dalton said $25,000 worth of damage was caused to the train and infrastructure.
Defence lawyer Allan Grant said the rail crossing did not have boom gates and that his client did not hear the train horn.
“He was assisting his brother with poisoning at the property during the day,” he said.
Mr Grant said he was heading home at a reasonable hour along Dawson Road at Glenlee.
“He said it was hard to see the train due to the tree line and the sun was reflecting off the red crossing lights.
“He is very lucky he was not seriously injured.”
Mr Grant said his client worked as a mine supervisor and that his would be in jeopardy if he lost his driver’s licence.
“He is required to drive throughout the day,” he said.
Magistrate Grace Kahlert took into account Belleville’s potential loss of employment when handing down his sentence.
Belleville pleaded guilty on Friday to one count of driving without due care and attention.
Magistrate Grace Kahlert fined Belleville $1500.
Ms Kahlert did not disqualify Belleville from driving.
A conviction was recorded.
