Two women found dead in a home at Rockhampton at the weekend have been identified as local mother and daughter Deanna and Andrea Coughlin, as police reveal fresh details about their deaths.

Andrea, 44, and her mother Deanna, 81, were co-owners of the Bank Street, Park Avenue home where police made the grim discovery of their bodies after being called to the home to carry out a welfare check about 5.30pm Saturday.

It is understood that tragically, the pair may have been dead inside the quaint, low-set home for more than a week.

On Tuesday, police confirmed they had not commenced a homicide investigation.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said police were still waiting for autopsy results to come back.

“Investigations have determined at this stage, it’s not being treated as suspicious,” the QPS spokeswoman said.

“So that’ll be pending the results of the autopsy.”

Wearing protective equipment, two forensic officers could be seen at the Bank Street house about 8am on Sunday, combing the veranda before going inside, but by Monday morning there was no longer a police presence.

Signs outside the home suggest Andrea and Deanna lived a private life, with “Private keep out … No trespassing … No admittance and Beware of the dog” messages posted on the front fence and in windows.

Neighbours said it was a quiet street and they didn’t have much interaction with the mother and daughter, who lived alone.

A memorial notice published in this publication in 2019 listed Andrea and Deanna as the loving daughter and wife respectively of John Patrick Coughlin, who died aged 73 on July 30, 2013.
