Rockhampton’s homegrown and family-run Korte’s Resort has snagged another prestigious award, TripAdvisor’s Best of the Best Awards, cementing its reputation as one of the top hotels in the country.

Korte’s Resort placed 22nd in the top 25 hotels in Australia for 2023, an incredible feat going up against thousands of hotels across the entire country.

The awards are tallied through an analysis of review data from 2022 of 1.5 million hotels in the world.

“Step into a luxurious tropical oasis near the heart of Rockhampton at Korte’s Resort. Whether your next gathering is a wedding, conference, overnight stay or night out, this state of the art venue is the perfect choice – at the right price,” Korte’s Resort is described as in the TripAdvisor listing.

The Parkhurst business, operated by Bill Korte in partnership with his sons Cameron and Brad, opened in November 2015 with 52 resort-style rooms, the 150-seat Oasis restaurant and a 26.5 metre pool.

It’s not the first time the resort has won in the annual awards, with six awards in just eight years of being in business.

The redevelopment will see the existing function building extended by about 600 sqm, adding an additional dining option, sports bar and lounge area, allowing for up to 600 guests.

There would also be a spacious reception and cafe area with indoor and outdoor seating, a courtyard and kids play area.

It is estimated to create an extra 40 to 50 jobs.

Development plans for the project were approved by council in September last year.

The management of the motel, restaurant and pool area will continue to be in the hands of the Korte Group.
